The first batch of 57 students of the Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) has got placement offers from 80+ reputed development organisations. The students have got the opportunity of getting placed in multiple kinds of development organisations, including domestic and international NGOs, social foundations, CSR/Corporate foundations, social enterprises, social consulting organisations, funders, ecosystem creators and research organisations. The organisations include Central Square Foundation, Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative, Actionaid, Samagra Development Associates, Wadhwani Foundation, Ashoka Innovators, PATH, Charities Aid Foundation etc to name a few. Over 250 job roles from these reputed organisations is a strong indication that social sector is rapidly evolving as one of the primary career destination and is moving beyond the traditional roles of volunteering or field jobs.

Talking about the achievement, Gaurav Shah, Founder and Director, ISDM said, “It gives me immense contentment to see that the social sector offering such a rich variety of career options and not being restricted to just particular kind of roles (volunteers, field roles etc.). MoU for business analytics course

BSE Institute Ltd, a leader in financial education, has signed an MoU with IIT Madras to offer joint programme in Business Analytics. The MoU was exchanged at IIT Madras campus between Ambarish Datta, MD and CEO, BSE Institute Ltd and Dr. Ashok Kumar Mishra, Professor. Dept. of Chemistry and Dean-Academic Research, IIT Madras.

Both BSE Institute and IIT Madras endeavor to provide world-class education to students through collaborative programmes. In addition, the collaboration will also lead to opportunities of joint research and facilitate industry exposure for students of both the institutions. It will provide excellent opportunities to students from both the cities.

Business Analytics programme enables working professionals with in-depth understanding of the key technologies used in analytics, viz. data mining, machine learning, visualisation techniques and statistics. Through this programme one can turn the sheer complex data into a competitive advantage with the efficient use of Business Analytics & thereby fostering/ supporting the decision making. The programme is designed on a schedule that minimises disruption of work and personal pursuits, spread over one year (part-time) focusing on overview of the field of analytics so that you can make informed business decisions. 

‘Coding’ curriculum in Indian schools 

Adani Foundation has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Cambridge University Press, to introduce cutting edge curriculum such as ‘coding’ in Indian schools and aim to transform the teaching-learning experiences in the education system. The Cambridge Language Solution is a digital language lab for schools, with the core focus on sharpening the two key skills of listening and speaking. The learning methodology offered by the language lab blends well with the curriculum requirement that is targeted to cater to the learning needs of the students. The ‘Coding Sandpit’ programme being adopted by Adani Foundation has been designed to offer a transformational experience of teaching and learning of Computational Thinking and ICT in schools. The objective of this program is to make youth develop flexible, accurate, automatic execution of standard algorithms, and use these competencies to solve problems and make them skill ready for a Digital India.

Innovation incubator 

JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur , has been selected to implement the Atal Innovation Mission(AIM) by establishing an Atal Incubation Center after the recent evaluation by the NITI Aayog. Less than 3 per cent of those who applied made it through the selection process and JKLU is among the 72 selected across the country. This selection is another recognition of the new developments at JKLU, as it rapidly emerges as one the premier innovative Universities in India with its brand of ‘experiential learning’.

The selection means that a grant of Rs 10 crore will be provided to the center which can be used for supporting and providing seed-funding to start-ups by the University’s students. It is one of two institutions of excellence chosen in the entire state of Rajasthan. The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at JKLU has already nurtured several successful startups by its students namely, Pixels, Keyroyce, Act of future, Engiology, Stylx, Sizot and GS Unite. It is also supported by the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation(RIICO).

547 receive degrees  at Shiv Nadar varsity convocation 

Fourth convocation of Shiv Nadar University, Noida, was held on Saturday. The University awarded 16 PhDs, 85 master’s and 446 undergraduate degrees to its students. Together a total of 547 students from various streams, including Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Business and Arts have graduated from the university. 

The Convocation began with a commencement address delivered by Prof. Ronald J. Daniels, President, the Johns Hopkins University. Later, the students were addressed by Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee, Inventor of the World Wide Web (www) who attended the event as special guest.  

The university also announced that a substantial number of students had received graduate admission and financial aid offers from top institutions and universities across the world. Graduating students have also received offers from top global institutions such as Purdue University, University of British Columbia, Rutgers University, IE Business School, Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, Trinity College Dublin, Carnegie Mellon, University of Texas at Dallas, Australian National University, and Michigan Tech University.
