Hailing from Hathras, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, Vipin Kumar Yadav worked as a software engineer with a multinational automotive company in Gurgaon after getting his master's degree in computer application. Following his passion for entrepreneurship, Vipin along with a small team of four started Couponhaat.in an online platform to offer the online coupons and deals in April 2015 and just within a year the company has grown with over 20 people working for Vipin. Coupnhaat's main focus is to offer benefits to its users by providing them irresistibly economical deals & coupons - they also offer enticing freebies, and giveaways. Here's what job creator Vipin has to say about his venture:

The genesis

From my childhood I wanted to become an entrepreneur. After working for an MNC for a few years, I decided to step into the world of entrepreneurship. I have been very passionate about exploring new things, particularly which can value add to people in their day-to-day life. One day, while I was buying few products online for myself, I realised that there is a business scope in the online coupons and deals industry. From that very moment, I have been devoting my time completely to build up the organisation, and I'm proud of my team for their contribution.

The journey so far

Couponhaat's journey so far has been quite phenomenal. In a very short span of time, we have grown up from just a 4-member start-up to a more than 20 people organisation. Couponhaat.in has more than 500,000 coupons to redeem and 7000 live coupons and deals. The site gets over half million monthly visits, and also more than 400,000 newsletter subscribers. Today, Couponhaat has been recognised as one of the leading players in the online deals and coupons segment in the country now.

Challenges faced

There were dozens of established players in the market, so it wasn't easy to make a mark for ourselves in this highly competitive segment, but we focused on the "user experience" and "utility" aspect of our website to make it different from hundreds of run-of-the-mill couponing portals. For us another major challenge was hiring right talents. We had to invest a lot of time to provide training to new team members. It is very challenging for start-up companies to hire right talents and retain them.

Future plans

We are looking at creating a solid team to scale up internationally. We are already working on this aspect, which we believe is the main factor that would provide an edge over other players in the industry in the coming months. We are planning to increase our team size to at least twice the current size by this fiscal year. And, the main aim is to improve user retention rates, while driving more traffic, and we aim to cross the one million impressions per month traffic mark by end of this quarter.

Motivating others

One should always focus on the job in hand irrespective of the role that one is assigned at the workplace. Try to execute plans properly keeping in mind the timeline. Be positive in whatever you do in your life.
