Jasmine Singh
Their lives can be graphically described through a pie chart. Almost 50 per cent of the time is dedicated to the OT, 45 per cent of the time is whole-heartedly given to their clinics, hospitals, seeing patients, listening to their painful stories, 5 per cent is snatched for the family, where they manage an outstation trip with family and friends, a dinner, and lo and behold! they even manage a selfie!
On Doctors Day, doctors from the region, send in their best selfie moments.
Moment to cherish
Dr Harpreet Batth (dentist) & Dr Jaspreet Batth (dentist)
This does not happen often for us. This one rare moment we all family members were together and had this selfie with our daughter Mehr. A moment captured and stored forever to be cherished!
Critical point
Dr Gagan Puri, dentist
It was a day when the entire staff had stayed back for an important surgery, something that was very critical. The minute we came out of the OT, one of the attendants pulled out a cell phone and said, ‘sir ek selfie banti hai aaj’.
In action zone
Dr Mukul Kaushal, junior resident, Department of Orthopedics
A hard day at advanced trauma centre can be fulfilling and tiring both. At PGI, I have often seen patients asking for direction to the advanced trauma centre. Only yesterday when I was coming out I thought let me click this place, a place where the action never stops.
Best friends
Dr SPS Grewal, Grewal eye institute
This Siberian Husky is a marvel, a dog-breed with distinct markings. And when I got close to it, I couldn’t have let it go without a picture.
Not so busy
Dr Rachna (gynaecologist) & Dr Raman Abrol (ENT surgeon)
Our status message to each other is ‘always busy’. The other day, Dr Raman just surprised me by ordering lunch and telling this is going to be our time. So, we captured it!
Long innings
Dr Ankur Dixit, dentist
Only today, I have completed 10 years in my profession and the clinic. I was getting ready for an OT when I thought how about capturing this in my camera? I was just feeling overwhelmed so this one is for me and the years spent in my clinic.
Play mate
Dr Pankaj Garg, Colo-rectal surgeon, Fortis Hospital
My son caught hold of me last week and challenged me to a game of football. He won of course, and it was his and my winning moment.
Cook and tell
Dr Deepika Arora, gynaecologist and infertility specialist
The time I snatch specially to rustle up my daughter’s favourite dish is the moment I can’t let go. Right now, in the kitchen, cooking for my lovely daughters is my selfie moment.
Family bond
Dr Param Preet Ghuman (SMO ESI Hospital, Kharar) & Dr Avatar Singh, (eye surgeon)
The best moment of my life is whenever I am with both my kids, one an actress and other serving in the police, which is very rare. Behaving like a filmi mother, I told my daughter and husband; let’s take a selfie together so that I can put it as a wallpaper on my cell. A cherished picture I can look at all the time. Can you beat it this is our first selfie together!
Life’s lesson
Dr Deepinder Chaudhary, joint- replacement surgeon
Recently as I was coming out of the OT, a guy told me that he liked the doctor’s OT dress. He took a picture of mine and left. I also clicked my selfie just to see what the young man was trying to say. And goodness gracious, I felt so radiant in that dress, because this is what I wanted to be all my life.
