British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Ayre hosted the Queen’s Birthday Party on Monday, at his residence in the presence of Sir Simon Mcdonald, Permanent Under Secretary & Head of Diplomatic Service UK, who was on his first visit to Chandigarh.



British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Ayre hosted the Queen’s Birthday Party on Monday, at his residence in the presence of Sir Simon Mcdonald, Permanent Under Secretary & Head of Diplomatic Service UK, who was on his first visit to Chandigarh. The reception was attended by the Governor of Punjab VPS Badnore as a special guest. Manpreet Badal, Finance Minister of Punjab was also present.

 Virgin Atlantic and Triumph Motorcycles did special exhibits at the reception. Scottish bagpiper Laura Menie entertained guests with several renditions of classic British music. Andrew Ayre said “It was a delight to host my first QBP in Chandigarh on the day of the birth of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge’s third child.” The event highlighted growing partnership between the UK and this important part of India. I look forward to building on the ties in the year ahead.” —TNS
