A new-found respect for authors (across all genres), more time to observe life swinging by, and better personal relationships... Did you ever know writing a book could lead to such positive changes?

A new-found respect for authors (across all genres), more time to observe life swinging by, and better personal relationships... Did you ever know writing a book could lead to such positive changes?

While you give it a thought, Chandigarh-based Capri Jalota’s raises his hand in favour of these changes. An IIM-Ahmedabad pass out, a senior healthcare leader with an extensive experience of working with some of the best companies, Capri gave himself a break last year from everything that he was doing and sat down to write. After six months of juggling words, arranging emotions of laughter, love, sadness in a readable pattern, he is out with his first book—Then The Door Bell Rang.

Immaculately dressed in a formal suit (IIM legacy), Capri writes a small note on the book that he presents—‘Life is too short to follow someone else’s dreams. Be yourself, there is only one of you in this world.’ These are not just motivating words, this is the mantra that this young man has been following...all this while.

“I used to love travelling in the business class while flying, and when I did that, I realised the fun was in travelling in the economic class, unless you had to travel long distance. My point is that sometimes the things that we want in life no longer hold dear for you.”

And this is the point from where his story begins, the story of a debutant author, story of a man who is the product of his choices!

“Then The Door Bell Rang...this was my choice and I gave it my heart and soul. A story of Jane, who explores the mystical phenomenon called life, set in Dubai, the book has all the elements to make this a quick read.  “The book is not a philosophical sermon, neither have I poured myself into the story, it is a fun read about chasing one’s own dreams, and making the right choices,” he shares, sounding relaxed and at ease.

“I discovered the most beautiful part about writing, I have more time to myself then I ever had. The entire writing process, which I discovered is a rhythm, has helped me a lot in my personal life. Today, I can appreciate the hard work put in by others, I can understand pain, I can feel life,” Capri takes the philosophical lane, unknowingly. It is, however, on this lane that he discovered his true calling, which lay in the words somewhere!

That’s a full-time author talking? He smiles, “Career was priority at one point of time in my life, now I have learnt the act of balancing between writing and career. I would be writing more.”

Any story that is giving him sleepless nights. “None as of now, I like to experiment, so my new book would be touching a new story and new characters.”
