Punjabi singers Jassi Gill, Nishawn Bhullar, Bohemia, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Money Aujla and Alfaaz have taken to the floor big time

Under the fancy red, green and blue lights, in the backdrop of loud music, Punjabi singer Money Aujla throws his voice aloud into the mike. The songs Mere Ma Nu Putt and London Ton Aai Lagdi have made the party-goers sway to their rhythm. In this popular discotheque of Chandigarh, Money has created quiet uproar with his live gig.

Gig — the jazzy word — is possibly conjuring up an image of a Dj behind the console, holding one cushioned ear of the mike close to his ears and waving the other hand to the crowd. But now it is gig for Punjabi singers across the region, who have made night clubs and discotheques their new performance stage. The crowd loves it and why not, after all the burrrahh effect is live in a disc!

If you think these famous singers ever think twice about performing at night clubs, catch Punjabi singer Jassi Gill talk nineteen-to-dozen about his Friday night performance at Paara Night Club, which recently launched Hands Up, an all-new club concert.

Hit it

From akhaaras, colleges, university festivals and marriages, singers sure have shifted base to night clubs and discothèques. Shares Jassi Gill, who has been performing at all popular night clubs in Delhi of late, “Speed Records and EYP Creations in association with Paara Night Club launched Hands Up where I performed. I have also done live shows and sung on stage many times, but performing at a club or discotheque is totally an amazing experience.” He adds, “As performers we entertain all kinds of crowds, but at night clubs people really leave inhibitions behind and enjoy our music the most.”

Thanks to the likes of popular singer-actors like Gippy Grewal, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Badshah and Raftaar, singers have enough peppy numbers in their kitty to make the young crowd go crazy.

Night out

Actor-singer Nishawn Bhullar of Hummer fame gave his first night club performance with rap-star Bohemia in Delhi and Chandigarh, respectively. “I had a notion about night clubs that people either like to listen to jazz or maybe electronic, but when I performed, the young boys and girls repeated every single line of my tracks.” For the young December- fame singer Money Aujla, who has performed in umpteen discotheques abroad and Mumbai, the singers have definitely taken a fancy to night clubs, “It is the young crowd they are targeting which is nice, it is always fun to perform at night clubs, just that a singer should have enough dance numbers to his or her credit to hold the floor for long.”
