Gift of gab… an assumed prerequisite for any stand up entertainer, a show host and a radio jockey. Hussain Kuwajerwala, TV actor and anchor only makes use of the gift in front of the camera. Behind the scene, this actor slows his pace assuming a comfortable and intelligent mode of interaction, not rushing in to say just about anything.
As the spotlight falls on the actor who co-hosts the second season of Indian Idol Junior on Sony Television, along with Asha Negi, Hussain likes to call it one learning experience.
“I have hosted Indian Idol earlier, this is my first stint with Indian Idol Junior 2, I missed the first season,” he gets to the point. Hussain, known for his pleasing on-screen presence, has had a great time with the participants. “There is so much that I have actually learnt from the kids. Besides being an absolute bundle of joy, they know how to take things in stride. The way they can handle rejection or failure with that a smile is marvelous.”
At the same time, putting them under public pressure and glare, is it fair? Hussain pauses. He understands the depth and sensitivity of the question. “I understand what you are trying to say, but look at it this way, each one of them has some talent, which is why they are on the show. Through this show they are only getting to better their talent. Besides, they are not forced into it, they are doing it because they like it,” adds Hussain.
When everyone in the entertainment industry understands the need to be in sight, Hussain is an actor who places quality work over everything else. “I like to put in best in everything I do, I don’t mean that I don’t want to do films or serials, whatever I put myself at the end of the day should be a satisfying experience. What else does one need out of work? Return home with a satisfaction of having done something fruitful. This is how I feel when I host Indian Idol Junior.” Pat comes the reply!
