A nose job, a chin correction, an artificial dimple, and hair transplant... celebrities indulging in artificial techniques to enhance their beauty is no longer a revelation for us, and not for them either.

But what might come as a surprise is that even the Punjabi entertainment industry is going the hair-y way!

It’s a tough job

We know that male hair loss pattern is genetic. Many young and not-so-young celebrities face hair loss problem, and well, they don’t shy away from getting a hair transplant done, “but after much coaxing,” adds hair stylish Mandeep Bajwa.

Of late many Punjabi entertainers, comedian Rajiv Thakur, singer Lakhwinder Wadali, Master Saleem, actor Vindu Dara Singh, singer Sharry Mann, Hardy Sandhu to name a few, have gone in for hair transplants.

Dr Tejinder Bhatti, Director of Darling Buds, hair transplant clinic, finds it taxing when he has to do the transplant job on a celebrity. “Doing hair transplant for celebrities is not an easy job. One, because I have to work within the time constraint as most of them are popular faces on TV and films, and they are always shooting. This also means we cannot shave off their head completely.”

Well, on their hesitation to talk about it, Dr Bhatti shares a different opinion. “I have done hair transplant on nearly 15-20 celebrities from the Punjabi film industry, and they openly talk about it. In fact, they share their pictures on their FB pages too, barring a few who wear turban and do not want to be named.”

Bald is not beautiful

However, the perception that the celebs are not comfortable to talking about it, persists. We ask, why?

A singer on the condition of anonymity tells us how his fans made fun of his new hair on Facebook. “I don’t know how a fan got to know of my hair transplant. He made a collage of all my pictures, ‘before and after’. This collage was such an embarrassment because I received numerous posts from fans saying ‘Bhaji nave waal Mubarak.”

However, singers like Lakhwinder Wadali and even Master Saleem deal with it pretty graciously. “Who doesn’t get bald? Besides, the kind of work we are into, our hair suffer the most because of exposure to various chemicals and bleaches. So, what is the harm in getting a correction done? Don’t we take medicines when we fall sick, so why shy talking about it,” adds Lakhwinder. Though many Punjabi celebrities would still shy away from talking about their diminishing hairline, they know along with their talent, it is their face that adds value to their work!

The scene over there:

Bollywood has a good number of actors who have their own hairy tale

  • Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan began to lose his hair with his falling career in the late 90s. The actor made a comeback in 2000 with Kaun Banega Crorepati, where he sported his new hair!
  • It is said that Sanjay Dutt’s career saw a downfall because of his receding hairline. The actor thus went in for hair restoration surgery and follicular unit transplant.
  • Actor Aditya Pancholi suffered a major hairfall in his career. He is known to have gone in for hair transplant surgery in Dubai.
  • Comedian Kapil Sharma is also belived to have gone for this treatment.
  • And who can not include a famous doctor from Dubai been flown to give Salman Khan restored hair.
