How do you end a series that started off as a mega-blockbuster? Make it a masterpiece. That’s exactly what the third and final season of The Leftovers has come to look like. And the critically acclaimed and star-studded show comes to an end with the much-anticipated season finale, which will air in India this week on Star World and Star World HD. Based on the book by the same name, by Tom Perrotta, The Leftovers starts three years after a global event. 

Now, in its third and final season, the show travels to Australia and revolves around a time that marks the 17th anniversary of The Sudden Departure and citizens believing that yet another apocalyptic event is in the offing. Kevin’s father is trying to stop a flood he thinks will end the world on the seventh anniversary of the Departure, and Kevin is haunted by his visions once again.The excellent and gut-retching performances by the series cast, featuring Justin Theroux and Carrie Coon in the lead roles, along with some superb directing from the likes of Mimi Leder and Craig Zobel, has ended the series on that perfect note. After three seasons and 27 episodes, The Leftovers is finally down to its final hour!
