On a difficult pitch

And this time, we have the national favourite sport, cricket under fire. This, of course, is nothing new. But this time, it is the revival of the Indo-Pak series, likely to happen from December 15 in Sri Lanka, which has led the nation to wonder whether this is the only bridge that the two countries can actually build, or playing with a country like Pakistan that has always been in the news for supporting a wrong ideology causes disrespect to our soldiers, to the many souls who have laid down their lives safeguarding this country. Youngsters from the region debate it out.

A sham, a shame

On one hand, we talk about handling terrorism, strictly dealing with people who are creating havoc in India, Kashmir, and on the other hand, we are inviting Pakistan to play cricket. Isn’t this disgraceful? We should snap all ties with this nation, more so we shouldn’t even entertain their actors or singers. Let the country feel the heat, let their artist community create a hue and cry, and then we see. Almost everyday a soldier dies on the border and here we are thinking of playing with those people.

Bridging barriers

Cricket is a religion in India, and also in Pakistan. If this same religion can strengthen the ties then why not go for it. Also, since the revival of this series is being planned in Sri Lanka, everything seems safe. In fact, both the countries should be playing more friendly matches. This might soften the two countries a bit. Why mix cricket, a game with politics.

This can’t happen

Everything is not well between the two countries, otherwise why would be deciding to play on a neutral ground like Sri Lanka? Since there is something evidently wrong, why bring up cricket at this time when we are fighting against terrorism and infiltration. Our PM talks nineteen to dozen about the mess that this neighbouring country has created and now we are inviting them to play cricket. Looking at how sensitive the situation is, this match will be under radar and threat which is uncalled for at this point of time. This move is totally anti- national. They say cricket is a gentleman’s game, so it should be played with gentlemen only!

Foul play

The two countries are at loggerheads, and this time we are thinking of playing cricket? What is wrong with us, how can we even float this idea? This is a disgrace of those who laid their lives in 26/11 and other terror attacks. First, we need to settle our equation with Pakistan and then think of playing a match. Do you think terrorism can be handled by a match between India and Pakistan, if so is the case then all political leaders and all states should be engaged in friendly matches.
