‘I love Punjab’s winter and food’

Newlywed Abhinav Shukla, who hails from Ludhiana, is back to work. Being true to his professional commitments, the actor has shelved his honeymoon plans for now. We caught up with him for a quick chat about his show, life after marriage and of course, Punjab! Here’s what he said.

How does it feel to get back to work soon after marriage?

Well, I actually reached the sets in my wedding clothes. Had a long night and then had an early shoot call time.

Now that you are married, how would you be dividing your work and home life?

I work to make a living but I also make sure to have my personal time.

Tell us about your character in Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka?

I am playing a woman beater, an abuser, a guy who is blinded by success and money.

Does playing a grey character affect you personally?

I feel bad for all the women who are putting up with a person like Rajdeep. People like Rajdeep do exist and in great numbers!  I feel bad that my mom and dad see me hitting a woman on screen.  But in the end, I am doing my job.

You have worked with Drashti earlier too. What is the equation that you share with her?

I worked with her in Geet. It has been seven years and she still looks exactly the same. We bonded well in Geet and on this show, we bond even better. She is a buddy.

At this stage in your career, what are the kind of characters you want to stay away from?

None. I guess I am at that stage of life where I want to break free from that alpha, lead hero image. I want to act and be known for my craft!

How is life post marriage?

Life is fantastic though a bit hectic. I have resumed shooting. Rubina and I are from the same profession, so we understand each other well. There is lot of love and happiness in the air.

What do you love about Punjab?

I love Punjab’s winter and of course Punjabi food, especially Chole Kulcha and Samosas. But I eat such stuff only once in a blue moon because an actor I have to be conscious about what I eat.

What about future plans?

I never plan!  Life is happening.
