Making everybody tap their feet merrily to their tunes is the forte of this highly energetic dancing-duo.

Ecstasy the dancing studio run by Gautam and Sangeeta Sharma have been relentlessly coaching and holding workshops in various forms whether it is the Masala Bhangra, Zumba, Booika, Bollywood, contemporary or Salsa, since the last eight years.

The duo is professionally trained, both having done their masters in Kathak. Sangeeta, who hails from Pathankot, is looking after the department of dance, cultural and performing art at The Sat Paul Mittal School complements Gautam totally. Their latest feather in their cap was when Ecstasy got awards at the Global Achievers Forum Awards 2017

As Gautam opines “I have been passionate about dancing since the age of 12 but due to family pressure I could not take the road less traveled and graduated in computer science from Mumbai before doing masters in Finance.

Still his true calling beckoned him and he managed to do an MA in Kathak under the tutelage of Shrimati Vyas keeping the famous danseuse Navtej Johar as his ideal. “Kathak taught me how to use my hands and facial expressions to convey my thoughts,” he says.

He started his journey in western dance forms and set out to learn Salsa from Kaytee. His confidence grew when he went as an instructor to Goa for the international dance festival.

Exploring the dance form of the Masala Bhangra, which blends traditional dance form with the Bollywood type, Gautam became the brand Ambassador for it while taking it to Canada and New Zealand.

“The year 2012-13 was an amazing period for Masala Bhangra,” he says. Exploring further he got himself trained in zumba from Sucheta Pal.

As he informs, “Zumba is inspired from many other dance forms like Salsa, Merengue, Kumbie and Reggie.” Gautam regularly holds sessions of Aqua Zumba in Raddissn Hotel pool.

The latest dance form which he has learnt and introduced to his patrons is the Booika. Booika is all about free expressions, rather it is like expressing one’s own style and the way one moves. Till date Gautam has done fourteen workshops in cities outside Ludhiana.

Since last three years the duo has also ventured into choreography and has very recently worked for the fashion shows involving victims of acid attacks sponsored by Fortis.

Sangeeta happily informs “Our most recent, interesting and challenging project was to choreograph a show for seniors titled Yaadon Ki Barat.” Gautam adds, “Eleven- year-old Mandeep Kaur, one of our students, was the finalist in the reality show Sab Se Bada Kalakar. So, with the town already rocking to the beats of Zumba, Booika and Masala Bhangra, Gautam and Sangeeta are on the go to try out the latest dance forms.
