SLEEP: While your friends are busy flooding the WhatsApp group with party options for New Year, you might just be scrolling down with a ‘not really interested’ speed.

The home is your oyster

Jasmine Singh

While your friends are busy flooding the WhatsApp group with party options for New Year, you might just be scrolling down with a ‘not really interested’ speed. Because, this year you have decided to snug in your polyfill rajaai and usher into the New Year without a loud cheer. Also, because this year you promised your date to give her quality time, all by yourselves. Well, since you have made up your mind to be at home on the New Year Eve, here are some options for a home celebration.

A bunting here and there

How about decorating your abode without going overboard? Remember, you are not decorating for a birthday. If you are to stay in Tricity or in any of the satellite cities around, you can book a party decorator to do the decorations, or just do it yourself. Blow a few balloons and fix it on the wall. You can also make a DIY New Year noisemaker. Put rice, confetti and litter inside an empty bottle. Twist on the cap and shake it loudly...Hurray it’s Happy 2017.

Chef at home

Are you and your loved one wish to be alone on the New Year eve at home, or are you inviting friends over? Either way, pick up your phone and call Chef Rajkanwar and Chef Chetan from Aja, Sector -11.

Mi Chef offers you unique personalized service that ensures an intimate and stress-free event. “We guarantee food thoughtfully tailored to your specific needs. Our menus strive to capture the fresh flavours of the season. Everything from the purchase of the ingredients to preparation and presentation of the food will be done by us and food will be offered in a professional manner ensuring an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. We do all cuisines from Indian, fusion Asian to BBQ and European cuisines.” These chefs will come to your place and lay a fine table for you.

Movie marathon

All those movie DVDs that you have collecting, this is the time to play them all back-to-back. Romantic, animation, war... what difference does it make? All you need now is a tub of popcorns, make it at home in microwave or pressure cooker, and there you go...Play!

Not a movie buff, okay how about reading then? Your latest pick, a hot cup of coffee or wine (no reservations) and a Happy New Year 2017.

lights & scent

This is pretty much self explanatory. Do it for yourself or for your partner.

Sit down, we need to think

A pen and paper and notes on what you accomplished throughout the year, good things, bad things, self-created goals, achievements.. whatever, write it down for yourself. This activity is open to one and all. Just be honest in this.

Sleep, even better

Good night 2016 and see you in 2017. Sleep tight, dream tight...no apologies, most people enter the New Year in their sound sleep.

For the ones on graveyard shift

If you couldn’t get a leave from office on the New Year’s Eve, why brood over it? Order your food, put on some music, make some space and just dance. Be generous, ask your boss to join in, if she or he hasn’t left for a party!
