Sushil Kumar and Rannvijay Singha

The longest running reality show on Indian telly is undergoing a makeover. Roadies unveils a new chapter as the contestants now navigate on Renault Duster rather than a bike! Anything new always gets Rannvijay Singha excited and he is looking forward to the changed dynamics on the show.

“It’s going to be different. As I would be with my gang all the time in the vehicle, rather than interacting with them from point to point, I would have a thorough understanding of them all as we drive together. It sure is going to bring a sea change to the show,” shares Rannvijay in Chandigarh on Monday for the auditions of MTV Roadies X4. The ‘veteran’ with the show opens up on the journey.

Road less travelled

It’s common knowledge now that Rannvijay who belongs to an Army family, his father being the sixth generation Army personnel, chose to take Roadies trip rather than lead a life he knew from close quarters. A trip initially taken to win the show prize - the bike - had Rannvijay thrilled. Out on the bike, travelling places, doing tasks he experienced adventure in full measure and opted to continue on the path.

“It might sound strange but I opted for the difficult option out of the two. Army would have been easy for me for that’s the life I from the day I was born. Getting a foothold in Mumbai was tougher for I knew nothing about it,” shares the man who also shares that his family is proud of him to have taken the road less travelled.

“Since they appreciate what I have done so far, I really have no regrets.”

Enjoy the show

Roadies will see boys and girls, twenty in number, competing with one another. The changed format wouldn’t deter the hardcore show fans from participating and enjoying the show is what Rannvijay believes in, “Bikes have been essential part of this show. I am a biker and a Roadie, I still can zip with my brother, father or Sushil, I needn’t necessarily do it on Roadies. Same is for Roadies enthusiasts, they will be with the show be it a bike or Duster or a cycle!”

Women power

Would we see more girls than boys is something that we will come to know only after the auditions but one thing that Rannvijhay is clear on – Girls aren’t equal to boys in any game, but better!

“When a girl decides to do something, be assured that she will. Boys might still take it easy. Also, girls can multitask brilliantly that boys can never think of,” says Rannvijay who seems totally in love, in awe of the girl who now steers his life - his wife.

“You know she is a Punjabi raised abroad but more stickler to culture than me,” he shares.

Get real

‘Get active’ is one message that Rannvijay has for the youth that’s also the theme of his another upcoming show Squad Rann. “Social media is good but that shouldn’t be your only experience,” says the man, who recalls that most of his growing years, he had his knees and elbows bruised something that he sees missing in this generation.

“To be active you don’t need much, you can practice sports right next to your building or even your room.”

As for films, he is all for Punjabi cinema and hopes to do more films – Hindi and Punjabi- in the coming year.

Sportsman’s spirit

Joining Rannvijay Singha for Chandigarh Roadies X4 auditions is Sushil Kumar. A sportsman to the core, Sushil feels for the youth of country and finds Roadies to have an amazing connect with youngsters. Glamour is not what he has stepped in for but for a message.

“All I want to pass on is that if you are determined and ready to work hard, there is no goal that you can’t achieve,” says Sushil, who continues to train and is eyeing the gold at Olympics, who is already a proud recipient of Olympic bronze and silver.
