Blending simplicity and style, artwork and interiors, a contemporary yet unique collection of paintings, charcoal drawings, furniture and artefacts has been put up on display by Raminder Singh and Bani Doabia at Alchemy.

One step inside the gallery and it feels like you have entered a space full of passion and elegance. Each piece handpicked, exuberating love for all that’s creative and exclusive.

A close look at Raminder’s charcoal drawings and you can see that the still images are full of life. “I love wildlife and this is the first time I’ve put them up for exhibit. It’s the simplest form of art for me; all you need is a canvas and pencils. The final product takes anywhere between three-four weeks,” he says.

His furniture collection called Indesign Woodworks has a signature style of straight lines and gentle curves. “Working with wood has been a childhood passion. I have retired as a marine engineer, but I’ve been into designing furniture for 18 years now,” he tells. What makes his work stand apart, he says, is the high quality of workmanship and originality of designs. “Close to 90 per cent of my designs are my own. I can sketch freehand quickly and I put on page my clients’ thoughts right when they are sharing,” he shares.

The furniture on display is made of teak and white ash wood and the price ranges from 15,000-50,000.

Bani, who runs this gallery, is a painter herself. While she has outsourced the artefacts, the furniture is her in-house production. Her idea to start this gallery was to provide a space where creative minds can fuse their ideas. “Alchemy, the art and interior hub, was created in January to promote creative pursuits of people in and around the city. It’s a place for all the art lovers and interior enthusiasts. I felt the city lacked such space,” she says and continues, “It’s not like other galleries. We only do exclusive shows and invite people from all walks of life to showcase their works.”
