This summer, look hot

The thing about spring, fashion we mean, is…that it invariably goes back to where it left at! Sorbet shades, floral prints, pristine white, breezy silhouettes and breathable fabrics. The staple rules of summer wardrobe are not really going to change, but there’s a need to click on the refresh button.

With fall season long behind, summer season right ahead and spring collections already in stores, here’s taking a look at a few spring-summer outfits inspired by the fashion weeks gone by.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor already hinted at the season being flooded with pop colours with her latest tweet, “Going back in time and bringing our favourite trends from the 80s to you! Think big shoulders, slogan tees and neon brights.”

It’s summer, can’t go wrong with whites or florals! Designer Samant Chauhan seems to have incorporated both in most of his outfits showcased at Amazon India Fashion Week for spring summer 2018. As for the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week Summer resort 2018, designers dishing out options are aplenty.

From the horse’s mouth

  • There can’t be summer sans billowy fabrics. “In terms of silhouettes, think flowy, billowy and comfortable capes, tunics, kurtas and palazzos. Trends this summer are bright colours like yellows and pinks. Patterns to look out for are bold, edgy, florals mixed with strong statement strips, touches of embroidery on sleeves.” — Designer Saaskha of the label Saaksha Kinni
  • Indian-wear holds a plethora of fabrics to choose from. Gaurang Shah terms this summer as all about indigo and as also about playful prints, intricate weaves; surface techniques in natural dyes.“Bandhani, chikankari, kota, kalamkari, khadi are the textiles for the season. Silhouettes would be easy drapes for women. Basically no fuss silhouettes with intricate natural dyes textiles.”—Designer Guarang Shah
  • Designer Nishka Lulla, points at bright hues as also pink. “Rainbow stripes are here to stay as also botanical prints in vibrant colours. White is a must for summer. White suits are everywhere.” She further opines tulles and sheer layers for your ensemble. “Your staples this summer should be different patterns of white shirts with statement sleeves…also pink is the new black.”
