‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ drive launched

Office-bearers of various departments and social activists have vowed to associate with the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ movement which was launched by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department.

The oath was taken in response to a call made by the Payal SDM Swati Tiwana after flagging-off the van equipped for spreading awareness about the education of girls.

Identifying illiteracy as breeding bowl for most of social evils including female feticide, gender bias and dowry system SDM Tiwana said education of women would go a long way in rectifying gender imbalance in society. The Child Development Project Officer, Kamaljit Kaur, said, the movement had been launched to educate members of agrarian society about women empowerment and checking gender bias in family and society.
