12 trains cancelled, 13 rescheduled

There was no let-up in weather conditions neither was any improvement in the erratic run of trains in the region. The Railway cancelled 12 trains, including two pairs of intercity express trains (on Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi section), while 13 other long-route trains were rescheduled for late departure. Some 24 long-route trains were running behind schedule with passengers facing huge harassment.

The fate of rail passengers travelling between New Delhi and different destinations of Punjab was no better as two pairs of intercity express trains remained non-operational and some other trains, including 12029 Shatabdi Express and 12497 Shan-e-Punjab on the New Delhi-Amritsar section and 12037 New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express were running late by 45 minutes to nearly three hours.

The Railways said the trains cancelled for the day were 12408 Amritsar-Newjalpaiguri Karambhoomi Express, 13152 Jamu-Kolkata Sealdah Express, 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Saryu Yamuna Express, 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express, 12459/60 New Delhi-Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express, 14681/82 New Delhi-Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity Express, 15209/10 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express and 15212 Amritsar-Darbhanga Jannayak Express.

Special Train to Katra

Northern Railway shall run the 04001/04002 Delhi Jn-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Delhi Jn Express Winter Special Train for a single round trip on January 25. The 04001 Delhi Jn-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express Special train will depart from Delhi Jn at 9.10 pm on Thursday and reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 12.10 pm the next day. In the return direction, the 04002 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Delhi Jn Express Special Train will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 07.30 pm on January 27 to arrive at Delhi Jn the next day
