More than 200 athletes (men and women) attended the selection trials conducted by the Punjab Athletics Association (PAA) at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

They were put to test in three disciplines in the track and field events.

Satvir Singh Atwal, president, PAA, and Kamalpreet Singh Brar, General Secretary, PAA, said the aspirants in three games — steeplechase, hammer throw and walk, would attend the trials scheduled for tomorrow at the Punjabi University campus, Patiala.

After the selection exercise at Patiala, the Punjab squads would be finalized. The players would undergo training-cum-coaching camp prior to their participation in the Senior Inter-State Athletics Championship slated to be held at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh from July 15 to 17. — OC
