Additional Sessions Judge Anjana has convicted Navtej Singh, alias Vicky, Parminder Singh and Pritpal Singh of Payal on the charge of murdering Satnam Singh over a money dispute. They were sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment.

A case was registered against the accused on June 8, 2014, at the Payal police station on a statement of Sharanjit Kaur, wife of the victim. She told the police that her husband had gone to meet Vicky, who was residing in same village. When he did not come back, she called him on the phone. Her husband told her that he, along with Vicky, was at Ahmedgarh. Later on, the dead body of her husband was found near Kanganwal canal bridge. Her husband had helped Vicky by giving Rs 2 lakh at the time of marriage of her sister. Despite repeated requests, he failed to return the money. — OC
