Those arrested by the police have been identified as Santosh Kumar of New Aazad Nagar of the Daba area, Ravi Kumar of the Giaspura area and Davinder Singh, alias Bunty, of Chet Singh Nagar of the Shimlapuri area. The police also confiscated a motorcycle used by the accused for smuggling drugs.

Giving details of the recovery at a press conference here today, the ACP, Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, said the accused were arrested by a team from the Dehlon police station during routine checking near the Alamgir bus stand.

“A police team led by Sub-Inspector Rampal Singh had laid a naka at Alamgir to check vehicles. The police spotted three persons riding a motorcycle at the naka. They were stopped and during search the police team recovered 1 kg of opium from a bag the accused were carrying following which they were arrested,” said the ACP.
