Ludhiana: Over 30 wrestlers from Punjab and Haryana took part in the 26th edition of the Open Wrestling Competition organised by the Peer Baba Mehar Shah Sports Club at the PUDA ground opposite Civil Hospital here on Saturday.

Ludhiana: Over 30 wrestlers from Punjab and Haryana took part in the 26th edition of the Open Wrestling Competition organised by the Peer Baba Mehar Shah Sports Club at the PUDA ground opposite Civil Hospital here on Saturday. In the three bouts held for cash prizes, Chhinda of Narangwal overpowered Kaku from Tarn Taran; Dimpy of Ludhiana got the better of Mohit from Banga and in the third one, Rajesh of Ludhiana stadium and Kirti of Shivpuri Akhara remained unresolved and they shared the prize money. In the competition organised for amateurs, Savi of Narangwal beat Teeka of Noorwala Road; Ashu of Jalandhar beat Abhishek of Shivpuri Akhara; Navdeep of Ludhiana stadium beat Navdeep of Noorwala Road; Kaku Tarn Taran beat Abhinav of Ludhiana stadium and Bawa of Narangwal beat Rohit of Panipat. Earlier, MLA Surinder Dawar inaugurated the competition. Ramesh Kandiarey and Subhash Sondhi, president and vice-president, respectively, of the organising club, Yash Pal, councillor, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, Luv Dravid and Rajender Hans gave away prizes to the participants. Bishan Singh, Vicky Bhatti, Sardul Singh and Rahul Kashyap were among other office-bearers present on the occasion.— OC
