A job fair was organised at Government ITI, Gill Road. The ITI Principal, Jaswant Singh Bhattal, informed that the Punjab Government under its ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ programme is committed to provide the best job opportunities to unemployed youths and this job fair was part of government’s initiative. He said around 319 youths got registered themselves in the fair out of which 53 were selected by Larson and Turbo and two by Nit Aid Company. He said trainees belonging to various trades including carpenter, fitter, draftsman civil, painter, plumber, mason, and electrician took part in the job fair.
Another job fair to be held on March 1
State-level job fairs are being organised from February 20 to March 8 in different cities of the state. According to the district administration, the job fair here would be held at ITI (boys), Gill Road, on March 1. Earlier, the deadline for applying online was February 18. Youths interested in participating in these employment fairs can still apply online, or update their online application.
Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said apart from the Technical Education Department, other departments, including Higher Education, Medical Education, would be included in job fairs this time.
