Ludhiana, June 14

Counselling of the students who have cleared Common Entrance Test (CET) for meritorious schools commenced on Thursday. A total of 983 students appeared at meritorious schools (Amritsar, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur. Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur, SAS Nagar) on the first day.

As many as 144 students appeared in Ludhiana for the counselling. A total of 99 admissions have been recorded till now from Ludhiana. The Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious School Ludhiana registered 91 admissions (42 girls and 49 boys). There are 200 seats for boys and 300 seats for girls in Ludhiana.

A total of 463 students qualified out of 989 students who had appeared for the entrance test in Ludhiana.

Manish Sharma, a student of GSSS Basti, Jodhewal, with 78% marks said: “I want to come to meritorious schools owing to poor family conditions so that I can secure my future. My conditions are such that it is not possible for my mother to bear the expenses of my studies anymore. I wanted to become a computer engineer but now I will do law by opting commerce.”

Another student, Paramvir Singh of GSSS Dadhahur, have scored 80 per cent in Class X and wants to opt for non-medical. His father said: “We want our son to excel and have high hopes from this school. I hope my son will come out as a successful individual after two years. It is not easy to leave him alone here but we trust his capabilities. We are sure this school has a lot to offer as far as academic results of my kid are concerned.”

The counselling will continue till June 20 for girls and till June 16 for boys.
