Amit Shukla, Raj Angad steer Chandigarh to victory

LUDHIANA: Amit Shukla and Raj Angad shared the bowling honours to steer Chandigarh to an authentic victory by an innings and 78 runs against Ludhiana on the second day of the match during the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament (U-19) for Dhruv Pandove Trophy at the Jathedar Santokh Singh Margind Sports Stadium Sewa Committee, Dulay village, on Sunday.

Amit Shukla and Raj Angad shared the bowling honours to steer Chandigarh to an authentic victory by an innings and 78 runs against Ludhiana on the second day of the match during the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament (U-19) for Dhruv Pandove Trophy at the Jathedar Santokh Singh Margind Sports Stadium Sewa Committee, Dulay village, on Sunday.

They scalped nine and five wickets, respectively, to help their side to come out victorious and earn seven points, including one bonus point.

In reply to Chandigarh’s first innings score of 373 runs for three, Ludhiana resumed at an overnight score of 37 for 1 and was restricted to a total of 105 runs in 31.3 overs. For Chandigarh, Raj got rid of five batsmen after conceding 23 runs, while Amit grabbed three wickets for 35 runs. Facing a deficit of 268 runs, Ludhiana was forced to follow on and asked to bat again. In their second essay, the hosts were bowled out for 190 runs and lost the match by an innings. Amit Shukla was again on target, chipping in with six wickets for 94 runs, while Harshit and Lakshya Rakhra captured two wickets each to wrap up the issue easily.

Ludhiana (first innings): 105 all out in 31.3 overs (Arjun Puri 37, Manjot Singh 29, Baljot Singh 12 and Kanishk Sharma 11; Raj Angad 5 for 23, Amit Shukla 3 for 35, Uday Bhagwan 1 for 20 and Harshit 1 for 26).

Ludhiana (second innings): 190 all out in 57 overs (Vaibhav Kalra 89, Vikas Prashar 36, Arjun Puri 36 and Jaish Jain 17; Amit Shukla 6 for 94, Lakshya Rakhra 2 for 19 and Harshit 2 for 36).
