Ludhiana: Special cell for women, Ludhiana, and Youth Club, Khalsa College for Women, celebrated ‘16 days of activism against gender-based violence- an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls’. The theme of 16 days activism is ‘Together we can end gender-based violence in education’. Social worker Purnima Bhardwaj introduced students about the cell for women, shared various helpline numbers available for them and basic safety measures. In the session, social workers discussed about gender, violence, types of violence, how violence takes place in education. Social worker helped students in understanding the issues and challenges faced in addressing and ending gender-based violence in education.

DBU organises anti-ragging seminar

Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital Mandi Gobindgarh, a constituent of Desh Bhagat University organised an anti-ragging seminar for all dental students. The progamme was especially arranged to make the students aware against the menace of ragging.

The DBU chancellor, Zora Singh, inaugurated the event. He highlighted that ragging was an academic evil and the DBU campus was a ragging-free campus. We have made all arrangements for the safety of the students by forming anti-ragging committee and squad. The squad is working efficiently to provide the studenats safe and secure environment.

Dr Vikas Jindal graced the occasion as a chief guest. While addressing the students, he said, ragging was a punishable offence. He advised the students to adhere to moral values learns from family and from your teachers as this provides congenial environment.

The DBU vice-chancellor, Virinder Singh, emphasised maintaining discipline everywhere. He talked about the importance of discipline and urged the students to maintain it not only in college campus but in Hostel, thus providing ragging free campus.

Principal Rajiv Bali assured the students that the campus was equipped with all modern facilities, if students have any query, they should contact their teachers without any hesitation. He warned that ragging in any form would not be ignored and quick action should be taken if anyone found guilty.

The seminar was presented by faculty member Dr Rajbir Kaur Grewal who explained about all laws, regulations related to menace of ragging.

The vice chairperson DBU, Tajinder Kaur, proposed the vote of thanks. She advised the students to inculcate the values of hard work, commitment and dedication.
