The Dehlon police have claimed to have solved the murder of an agent of a private bank, whose body was found on the Harnampura Khanpur road 10 days ago. The deceased has been identified as Amardeep Singh of Simlapuri, Ludhiana.
Palwinder Singh Pali of Karnail Singh Nagar on the Pakhowal road is the main accused in the case.
The deceased had left home as usual on the morning of June 15 and his body was found in the evening. Though his family had sought no action in the matter, the police initiated inquest proceedings after post-mortem under Section 174 of the CrPC. Later, the family, too, lodged a complaint.
A perusal of the FIR registered now under Section 302 of the IPC revealed that the deceased worked as a recovery agent for a private bank branch situated in Feroze Gandhi Market, Ludhiana. He went missing on June 15.
Santokh Singh of Simlapuri informed the police that his nephew, Amardeep Singh, had allegedly been killed by one of his friends, identified as Palwinder Singh Pali of Karnail Singh Nagar, Pakhowal road, Ludhiana.
Santokh alleged that the deceased had informed the family that he would meet Palwinder before going to the bank.
The deceased had told the family that Pali owed him some money and had promised to pay him on the fateful day.
Having received a formal complaint, a team of the police, led by Dehlon SHO Harjinder Singh, initiated investigation into the case, leading to the recovery of the body. Circumstantial evidence suggested that the victim was killed by the accused and the body was thrown in a vacant place with the help of accomplices. Harjinder said the accused was arrested while he was trying to leave the area. He has confessed to involvement of two other persons, who are yet to be identified, in the murder, said the SHO.
