Bids of LED light tenders opened

LUDHIANA: Municipal Corporation (MC) has opened bids of 24 tenders of LED street light projects with estimated cost of Rs 2.1 crore.

Ludhiana, January 4

Municipal Corporation (MC) has opened bids of 24 tenders of LED street light projects with estimated cost of Rs 2.1 crore. These lights will be installed in some parts of the city.

Executive Engineer (Light Wing) Balwinder Singh said the tenders of street lights were opened today. Installation of LED street lights would be started after issuing work orders to the contractors concerned. The residents of some areas have been demanding installation of street lights.

He said these lights would be installed at nearly 2,000 points in the constituencies of Ludhiana North, Ludhiana East and Ludhiana West, represented by the Congress MLAs.

Notably, the much awaited project of the MC for replacing the present street lights with energy-efficient LED lights as well as the Centralised Control Monitoring System (CCMS) project have been hanging fire for a long time. The tenders for the same projects under the Smart City mission were floated but the process had failed to make progress.

Residents of various areas have complained about non-functional street lights in their areas. — TNS
