The CMD of Hero Cycles’, Pankaj M Munjal, met Narendra Modi and Theresa May, Prime Ministers of India and the UK, respectively, during the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) business function, held in London. The CMD was accompanied by the director of Firefox, Aditya Munjal, and the director of Hero Cycles Limited, Abhishek Munjal.

In talks held with the two PMs Munjals discussed their shared vision of realising sustainable development in both the countries.

Earlier, in a joint statement in pursuance of a bilateral trade agreement the Indian and the UK governments had mentioned cooperation and collaboration in dealing with, among other things, the threat of climate change and urban sustainable development.

“The Commonwealth Summit provides an excellent opportunity for both these nations, entwined by historical ties, to take the lead in organising sustainable development and fending off climate change. We take pride in being part of innovative, green mobility and lifestyle fitness solutions through cycling,” said Hero Motors Company chairman Pankaj M Munjal.

“We feel that the time to integrate cycling as a critical component of projects such as Smart Cities, carbon emission reduction and traffic management has come,” he added.

Despite the fact that the UK is undergoing a transition period after exiting the EU and India is likely to benefit more from a broader trade deal with the latter, the Indo-UK trade was worth 2.3 billion (UK Pounds) in 2017 according to the government data. Bilateral cooperation may indeed benefit both nations in the long run.
