A few days ago, while working, I came across the story of a mother and a son which tugged at my heart strings. The woman from Assam, along with her four-year-old son, was living separate from her husband. While mother and father should together sail the ship of their kid’s life, the woman was singlehandedly doing everything to keep her son happy. When the boy talked to his father on phone one day, he was shattered by the words of his father. The little boy had then pleaded to his mother, “I do not need toys, but please buy me a good father from the market”.

Th 192-hour yagya!

The 192-hour yagya at Maa Baglamukhi Dham ended here on Sunday. It witnessed devotees from other states, including UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, etc. After seeking blessings, the devotees were served langar and thousands of devotees from various sections of society were a part of the celebrations. All devotees wore yellow-coloured clothes. Though the temple is almost 15 kms away from city, this did not dampen the spirits of devotees who thronged the temple in thousands.

Jeopardising their lives

People, including women and kids, can be frequently spotted crossing the railway tracks. No one but they are themselves to be blamed for any tragedy which could take place due to this. Those crossing tracks for one platform to another seem to be absolutely unmindful of the kind of danger they are putting themselves and their kids into. When an overbridge has been provided for going from one platform to another, it becomes the duty of the GRP and the RPF to stop passengers from crossing the tracks. At the same time, the Railways ought to provide people with better facilities, especially lifts and escalators for elderly people, women and children.
