City boy drowns during beach party in New Zealand

LUDHIANA: A 21-year-old youth of Janakpuri has reportedly drowned in sea at West Auckland, New Zealand, while celebrating the birthday of his friend on a beach.

A 21-year-old youth of Janakpuri has reportedly drowned in sea at West Auckland, New Zealand, while celebrating the birthday of his friend on a beach.

Kin said Akhil Tangri had gone to New Zealand in July this year on study visa after completing plus two from a private school in Ludhiana.

Akhil, along with eight of his friends, were celebrating the birthday of one of them at a beach in Auckland on Friday. During the celebrations, Akhil, along with his two friends, went in the sea. They went too far and started drowning. Two of the youths were saved by the divers. They couldn’t rescue Akhil as he had gone in deep waters.

The boy’s father is reportedly into Iron business in Ludhiana. He also left behind his elder brother and mother.

The kin said Akhil talked to his family everyday on the phone. On Friday as well, he talked to his brother.
