Ludhiana, March 9

The Division No. 5 police have booked a financier for allegedly raping his employee. The accused has been identified as Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Phase I, Dugri. He is yet to be arrested.

Kulwinder owns AK Finance Company, the office of which is situated in the Feroze Gandhi Market.

The incident came to light yesterday when the accused beat up the woman, suspecting that she was talking to some stranger on the phone.

The complainant, a resident of Phase I, Dugri, told the police that she had been working in the company for the past about two years. She befriended with the owner and also developed physical relations with him. Now, he was threatening her not to disclose anything to the police or anyone else.

Yesterday, the woman alleged that she was beaten up by the financier at his office and she suffered injuries on her face and eyes. She also alleged that the owner also snatched her gold ornaments and mobile phone. After the incident, he took her to the nearby SAS Grewal hospital and told the doctors that she fell off a scooter. It was only after the doctor suspected foul play that he called up the police.

The doctor said the woman was still undergoing treatment at the hospital. She has suffered serious injuries on the face and other parts of the body. However, she is out of danger, he added.

The SHO, Bhupinder Singh, said a case under Sections 376, 323, 326 and 506 of the IPC had been registered against the accused.
