The Shiromini Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will jointly contest in all the 15 Wards of the Sahnewal Nagar Council in the forthcoming civic elections. The SAD has fielded its candidates from the 10 wards while the BJP has brought in five of its members for remaining seats.

SAD candidates, who will be contesting in the upcoming civic poll include, Parminder Kaur Ghuman from Ward No. 1, Kulwant Singh Kanti, former Nagar Council president, from Ward No. 2, Manjinder Singh Lovela from Ward No. 4, Swaran Soni from Ward No. 6, Suresh Garg from Ward No. 8, Jaswinder Kaur Talwara from Ward No. 10, Ravinder Singh Babbu from Ward No. 11, Rajan Bhatia from Ward No. 12, Rajdeep Bhatia from Ward No. 13 and Mandeep Kaur from Ward No. 14.

The BJP has fielded Manju Bala from Ward No. 3, Amarjit Kaur from Ward No. 5, Jaspreet Kaur from Ward No. 7, Reena Devi from Ward No. 9 and Devinder Chahal from Ward No. 15.

Sharing his views while opening the office at Ward No. 10, MLA Sharnjit Singh Dhillon asserted that their victory was for sure and the alliance now does not need to beg for votes from anyone. “This is mainly because work done, projects undertaken and promises fulfilled in the past 10 years stand testimony to the fact that no other party, but the alliance shall come out victorious,” he said.

“The party has not only come up to the expectations of the public of Sahnewal, but also kept its word,” he added.

Dhillon said development projects such as a rail overbridge, sewerage, water supply, tehsil complex, installing interlocking tiles in streets and several others works had been completed in this constituency.

He appealed to the public that if they wanted the ongoing development to continue, then they should vote for the SAD-BJP alliance.

He said, “The public knows, who has practically worked to usher in change. We have full confidence and faith that the victory is going to be ours. This being so because we feel no opposition and simply no competitor in these elections.”

“This is a man to man interaction with the people. What the Akails have done for the general public can never be forgotten by anyone,” he added.

“As far as the question of our victory is concerned, it is simply a matter of no concern. We have already been successful in making inroads into hearts of Sahnewal residents. Other parties may make good efforts as it is their right, but the victory of Akali Dal is written on the wall,” said Rachpal Singh, personal assistant to the MLA.

“We doubt intentions of the ruling party. So, we have asked for videography to be done in all the wards at the time of polling,” he added.

He alleged that their candidates were being threatened and snubbed by the ruling Congress party on one pretext or another. “We fear that the ruling party might adopt wrong tactics to win at least in four to five wards,” he added.
