Doraha: A Class IX student of Doraha Public School was killed in a road accident. Indervir Singh (14), son of Jasvir Singh of Ward Number-1 of Doraha town, was returning home from school after giving his exam at Doraha today, when an auto-rickshaw (PB 11 AQ 2860) coming from the opposite side hit him killing Indervir on the spot. The auto-rickshaw was being driven by Haider Ali, son of Sitar Mohammad of Patiala. He ran from the spot. A case has registered at Doraha police station under Sections 279, 304-A and 427 of the IPC. 80-year-old pensioner dies of heart attack at bank

Ludhiana: Mohan Singh, aged around 80 years, a resident of Shimlapuri, died of heart attack at Bank of Baroda, Pratap Chowk, where he had gone to withdraw his monthly pension. His grandson, Devinder Singh, said generally someone accompanied his grandfather but today, he hired an auto-rickshaw and reached the bank to get his pension. “As it was too hot, he felt breathlessness and suffered a massive heart attack in the bank itself,” he said. Devinder said his grandfather was a heart patient. TNS

17-yr-old girl goes missing

Ludhiana: An unidentified person has been booked under Sections 363 and 356 A of the Indian Penal Code on the basis of a complaint registered by Anju Rani, a resident of Jawahar Nagar Camp in Ludhiana. According to the complainant, her 17-year-old daughter, who worked with a toy shop in Jawahar Nagar camp, left home for work at 10 am on May 15, but did not return. She said someone must have falsely promised her to get married and she went with him. The case was being interrogated by Malkiat Singh. 

Three booked for fraud

The Salem Tabri police have registered a case against three people identified as Surinder Pal, Ajay Kumar and Harwinder Kumar under Sections 4-6, 420 and 120 B of the IPC. According to Simranjit Singh of New Shivpuri, he read an advertisement on Facebook regarding immigration. On contacting the persons concerned through Facebook, the complainant paid Rs 1.90 lakh to the accused as they promised him to send abroad. They neither sent him abroad nor returned the money. The matter was being investigated by Deedar Singh.

Rs 50,000 snatched 

Bela Ram, a resident of Banda Bahadur Nagar, Ludhiana, has registered a complaint at the Basti Jodhewal police station against three unidentified persons. The case has been registered under Sections 379 B and 34 of the IPC. The complainant said yesterday, when he was coming with his cousin Sunil on a bicycle, three unidentified persons on a bike came from behind and stopped them near Radha Swami Satsang, Famran. He said they thrashed him and took Rs 50,000 by showing a sharp-edged weapon. He said they took his cousin's mobile phone as well. The case was being investigated by Pritpal Singh. TNS
