Ludhiana, September 25
Under the aegis of Deputy Commissioner, Team Ludhiana, continued its awareness campaign and IEC (information, education, communication) activities for fourth consecutive day, regarding ‘Swachh and Swasth Punjab’ at massive scale in Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana.
While giving information, Deputy Commissioner, Pardeep Kumar Agrwal, said more than 250 officials and officers of District Water Supply and Sanitation (DWSS) Department, Ludhiana, including field staff, office staff and social staff, took part in this mammoth exercise.
Tata Trust (NGO) also joined the DWSS, which further strengthen the campaign. Activities such as ‘Swachhta Pledge’ and ‘Signature Campaign’ were signed by thousands of persons.
Similarly, many people joined ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ march, small groups interactions and communication by social and other staff, Swachh Bharat Mission and water conservation skits by comedians. Songs on water supply and sanitation by Karamjit Singh were proved to be a great crowd puller.
He said farmers were also requested to not to burn paddy husk and sensitised on water conservation.
Swachh Bharat Mission’s brand ambassador, Jaswinder Bhalla, administered the ‘Swacchta Pledge’ to thousands of persons.
Dr B S Dhillon, Vice chancellor, PAU, and other senior faculty members also took the pledge. Campaign got amazing and overwhelming response from farmers, students, women, police and para-military personnel.
He said the DWSS delivered ‘Swachhta Message’ to more than 11 lakh persons.
