Ludhiana: Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Thursday started a cleanliness drive in Sidhwan Canal which will culminate on Friday evening.



Ludhiana: Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Thursday started a cleanliness drive in Sidhwan Canal which will culminate on Friday evening. The Mayor has appealed the residents not to dump garbage in the canal and join in the cleaning drive. He said it was their collective duty to maintain these resources. Various organisations, including Geeta Mandir, Shani Dham, Vikas Nagar Welfare Society and Asian Club, took part in the drive.

Food safety team collects samples

Ludhiana: A food safety team of Ludhiana on Thursday set up a naka on Gill Road under the Tandrust Punjab mission and collected samples from milk vendors. After that the team collected samples from two snack shops. Two samples of ghee were collected from a factory located on Gill Road.

Sewer man falls ill while cleaning

Ludhiana: A sewer man of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation fell ill after inhaling poisonous gas while cleaning a manhole in the Haibowal area on Thursday afternoon. He was shifted to a private hospital by local residents and MC employees where he was discharged after treatment. The sewer man has been identified as Ajay Kumar.—TNS
