BSNL employees stage protest

Ludhiana, March 20

The National Federation of Telecom Employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited today staged a protest against the alleged murky transfer policies of the employees.

The protesting employees alleged that due to the murky transfer policies the department is running into losses.

Vinay Raina, District Secretary of NFTE, the city has 28 customer service centres (CSCs’) but due to the poor transfer policies of the authorities the posts at 26 CSC’s were lying vacant.

He added that currently two CSCs’ are operation at Bharat Nagar Chowk and Mata Rani Chowk respectively.

Raina added while one department was facing staff shortage and there were some which were overstaffed.

He further said due disparity of manpower some schemes initiated by the BSNL were lying unmanned.

Raina added that as per the transfer policy an employee has to return present posting after spending two year. Whereas many employees have been transferred over 12- years ago but they were yet to be sent back.

He added that the agitation commenced with a daylong dharna from today but the mode of action would change in the near future.
