Ludhiana, December 7

Thirtyfour new patients have been tested positive for dengue, of which 24 belong to Ludhiana, while 10 are from other districts.

With this, the total count of patients tested positive with dengue from Ludhiana have reached 1,865 so far, while patients from other districts admitted to Ludhiana hospitals have gone up to 594.

Last year, the number of dengue patient detected were 264, out of which 184 belonged to Ludhiana, 55 to other districts and seven to other states.

“The spread of dengue fever was less last year and total patients diagnosed for dengue till December were 264. As compared to last year, the spread of dengue was more this year. The temperature will drop further in December and dengue fever will also subside,” said District Epidemiologist Dr Ramesh.

Another doctor from the city, Dr Sanjeev Grover, said this year the flow of patients was more as compared to last year. “It is expected that dengue will subside by the end of this month as maximum temperature will dip further,” he said.

Comparative figures of total dengue patients detected from the past three years show that the spread of dengue is more in one season, while it goes down the next year.
