Drive to save water bodies

The Clean and Green Ludhiana Team of the Aam Aadmi Party started its campaign against pollution of water bodies on Sunday.



The Clean and Green Ludhiana Team of the Aam Aadmi Party started its campaign against pollution of water bodies on Sunday. Aam Aadmi Party volunteers could be seen at the Sidhwan Canal, assisting its cleaning it as well creating awareness on reasons of water pollution. They appealed to the people to help reduce pollution. Carrying placards and wearing their signature caps, the volunteers fervently urged the passers-by to contribute to the noble cause. According to Col (retd) CM Lakhanpal, coordinator for the project, said ,”We started the awareness campaign at the Sidhwan Canal. We are planning to take this campaign to the Buddha Dariya and finally the Sutluj with the help of the Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and experts . The Aam Aadmi Party also held membership camps at different places in the city today.

Refreshments served

Rotary clubs, Ludhiana, gave first-aid and refreshments to participants of the life cycle rally. A booth was set up opposite PAU’s gate No. 2, Ferozepur Road, for the purpose. A booth was inaugurated by the district governor of the rotary district 3070, KK Dhir. Amanpreet Singh Arora, president, Rotary Club, Ludhiana Greater, said “All the participants were served mineral water bottles and lemon bottles as it was quite hot.” He added that the first-aid was also provided to the participants who required it. KK Dhir said Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal visited the booth and applauded efforts of the rotarians. He was accompanied by many officials of the district administration. — TNS
