Family protests in Khanna hospital

The Khanna Police had registered a case against a doctor of a private hospital, reportedly Jain Hospital, Khanna, against the alleged death of a woman and her newly-born son.

The case was registered after the protest by family members last night. The deceased woman was identified as Pretika, a resident of Krishna Nagar, Khanna.

As per information Pretika wife of Harwinder Singh was under treatment in the hospital from few days and was admitted in Jain Hospital Khanna on February 14 for delivery.

On February 15, the doctors told family members about the birth of a son and informed them to take child to Ludhiana as his condition was not well.

After some time the doctors told family members that the condition of Pretika was also critical and the family members took them to a private hospital hospital in Ludhiana, from where the case was referred to DMC. The woman was declared brought dead in DMC Ludhiana but her child was admitted in the hospital.

After struggling for life, the child also died on February 23 late evening. The family members accused the doctors of hospital of negligence and lack of infrastructure and last night they took the body of the child to Khanna and protested with the body in front of hospital. After information Khanna Police reached on the spot and assured the family members of action in this regard.

Sadar Khanna SHO Hardev Preet Singh in this regard said that they have registered a case under section 304 A in this regard against Dr Rozi Jain of the hospital.

The SHO however said that the post mortem report of child and woman was still awaited. However, the body of child was handed over to his guardians today.

When Dr Parvesh Jain of the hospital was contacted he refuted all allegations and said that their hospital had all required infrastructure of operations. He also said that the operation of the woman was performed by a MD doctor and the case against Dr Rozi Jain does not make any sense.
