Ludhiana, September 28

More than 115 patients and their relatives attended a programme organised by Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana, to celebrate World Heart Day today.

The programme was held under the supervision of Vivan Singh Gill, Director, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana. Separate rounds of interaction were held and a lot of queries regarding heart care problems were resolved.

Giving information regarding angiography and angioplasty through the wrist, Dr Sandeep Chopra, consultant cardiologist, said: “When a patient has heart problems, diagnosing the cause can be a long, uncomfortable process.” Cardiac catheterization is a method doctors use to perform many tests and procedures available for diagnosing and treating coronary artery disease.

The day was also observed by SPS Hospital. Dr Rajiv Garg said the growth of heart diseases was dependent on a number of interlinked factors such as ageing, changing lifestyles, bad eating habits and rapidly evolving socio-economic determinants such as urbanisation, poverty, ignorance and lack of access to healthcare facilities.

He said prevalence of biological and metabolic risk factors was also high among Indian people.
