Seven pairs of trains cancelled till Feb 15

LUDHIANA: The railways have further extended the cancellation of seven pairs of trains passing through the city till February 15 due to dense fog and adverse weather conditions prevailing in most parts of North India.

The railways have further extended the cancellation of seven pairs of trains passing through the city till February 15 due to dense fog and adverse weather conditions prevailing in most parts of North India. The trains which are to remain off the tracks for yet another month are 12053/54 Haridwar-Amritsar-Haridwar Janshatabdi Express, 12241/42 Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Express, 14631/32 Dehradun-Amritsar-Dehradun Express, 14505/06 Nangal-Amritsar-Nangal Express, 14501/02 Bathinda-Jammu-Bathinda Weekly Express, 14605/06 Haridwar-Jammu-Haridwar Weekly Express and 14713/14 Sriganganagar-Jammu-Sriganganagar Weekly Express.

The 14681/82 New Delhi-Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity Express, which was also cancelled on December 16 last year, has been partially restored. The train will have a truncated run between Ambala Cantt and New Delhi till further orders. Similarly, 12237/38 Varanasi-Jammu-Varanasi Begumpura Express will partially operate on review of weather and operational constrains on daily basis.

Meanwhile, rail traffic in the region has been adversely affected due to poor weather conditions. One train was cancelled for the day, two were rescheduled and more than two dozen long-route trains were running behind schedule.

According to railway officials, 12238 Jammu-Varanasi Begumpura Express was cancelled for the day while 12318 Amritsar-Kolkata Akaltakht Express (3 hrs) and 12355 Rajendranagar-Jammu Archna Express (2.55 hrs) were rescheduled.

Passengers on the trunk route of Amritsar/Ludhiana-New Delhi had to face a lot of inconvenience as almost all trains on this section were running behind schedule. The pair of morning Shatabdi Express (12029/ 12014) were delayed by more than two hours each, 12037 New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express (40 minutes), 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express (1.05 hrs), 12497 New Delhi-Amritsar Shane-Punjab (1.30 hrs) and 12498 Amritsar-New Delhi Shane-Punjab (2 hrs) were also running late.
