Terrorism-affected families seek compensation

A meeting of the All-India Terrorist Victims’ Association was held at the building of the Excise and Taxation Department at the Mini-Secretariat here today.

They said the pending amount of Rs 781 crore package for terrorist victim families must be released by the Central Government.

Speaking on the occasion, president of the association Dr BR Hastir said more than 32,500 families are a part of the association. He said Rs 5 lakh must be given to the victims as was given to the riot victims by the state government. He also demanded 10 per cent job quota in government departments, in addition to constitution of the State Welfare Board for the victims, cashless health insurance scheme for affected families, free travel facility for elderly women, reservation of grandchildren of the victim in higher education.

Hastir added that the pension amount to the victims’ families must be increased to Rs 10,000.
