Truck operators faced huge inconvenience today as they were not allowed to enter the Ferozepur Road reportedly to provide clear route to vehicles heading to attend the SAD Moga rally. Truckers had to take other route to reach their destination.
The traffic police had installed a special naka on the Mullapur-Ludhiana express highway connecting Ferozepur Road.
All heavy vehicles mainly trucks were not allowed to enter the Ferozepur Road.
The naka which was installed early morning remained till late evening.
Sources said this was being done to please the political bosses as large numbers of buses of the ruling party were to cross the Ferozepur Road to reach the rally venue in Moga.
Trucker operators alleged that the police were playing at the hands of politicians. “Why are we made to suffer? We had to take an alternative route after we were denied entry on the Ferozepur Road by the police,” Narinder Singh, a truck driver said.
Traffic police officials standing at the naka said this was done to prevent traffic snarls on Ferozepur Road.
