Cricket: Easy win for Mahajan Club

LUDHIANA: Mahajan Club (seniors), Ludhiana, affiliated to the Ludhiana District Cricket Association, scored an emphatic 44-run victory over Faridkot XI in the final of the Harnek Singh Saraf Memorial Cicket Tournament held at Faridkot on Sunday.

Ludhiana, June 17

Mahajan Club (seniors), Ludhiana, affiliated to the Ludhiana District Cricket Association, scored an emphatic 44-run victory over Faridkot XI in the final of the Harnek Singh Saraf Memorial Cicket Tournament held at Faridkot on Sunday.

Batting first, Mahajan Club scored 152 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Chirag Sharma top-scored with 51 runs, while Arjun Puri and Prince contributed 39 and 37 runs, respectively, and Sukhjinder Singh made 16 runs.

For Faridkot XI, Gagan and Gursewak scalped two victims each after giving away 33 and 24 runs, respectively, whereas Pardeep claimed one wicket for 26 runs and Anoop secured a wicket for 34 runs.

Chasing the target, Faridkot XI was shot out for 108 runs with two overs to spare. Anoop was the highest scorer, who made 24 runs, followed by Kalli and Pardeep who chipped in with 22 and 20 runs, respectively.

For Mahajan Club, Gurmehar Singh was the most successful bowler, capturing four wickets for 17 runs. Other notable wicket takers were Prince, Sukhjinder Singh and Joy Dhingra, who grabbed two wickets each to help their side to wrap up the issue and lift the winners’ trophy.
