Ludhiana, November 9

An all-round performance by Mankaran Singh (12 runs and 5 wickets for 11 runs) went in vain, as Ludhiana Club went down fighting against Samrat Coolers XI by 17 runs in the final of the Cricket Tournament (U-12) for Mahajan Trophy held at GRD Academy, Hambran Road, here on Saturday.

Samrat Coolers XI won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they failed to capitalise upon their decision, as their innings could not last for the full quota of 40 overs.

Their innings folded at 90 runs in 34 overs. Only two batsmen could reach the double figure. Soham Jindal and Divam Sharma contributed 12 runs each, while Armaan Ansari scored 6 runs and Karandeep chipped in with five runs.

For Ludhiana Club, Mankaran Singh was the pick of bowlers, who scalped five victims for 11 runs, while Kavish and Ansh grabbed two wickets each after conceding five and seven runs, respectively, whereas Aman took one wicket for six runs.

Samrat Coolers XI defended the total well by containing Ludhiana Club’s innings to 73 runs in 38.2 overs. Kavish and Mankaran Singh were the main scorers, contributing 28 and 12 runs, respectively, while Ansh Masand and Balraj made four runs each but that was not enough to overhaul Samrat Coolers XI’s score.

Arnav Cheema was the most successful bowler for the winning side, who went through Ludhiana Club’s batting line-up, claiming five wickets for just seven runs. He was ably assisted by Harshit and Divam Sharma, who secured two wickets each after giving away four runs each, while Kushagra captured one wicket for 11 runs.

Arnav Cheema was declared the man of the match. The prize distribution function would be held tomorrow after the U-14 final between Mahajan Club and Coaching Centre XI.
