Ludhiana, June 17

The trials to select the Ludhiana zone women’s cricket team (senior) scheduled to be held here at GRD Academy on Sunday were postponed. These selection trials had to be rescheduled due to overnight rains, which turned the venue water-logged.

According to Vinod Chitkara, honorary general

secretary, Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), an affiliated body of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), the trials would now be conducted on June 19 at the same venue.

Players from Bathinda, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Barnala and Muktsar besides those from Ludhiana can take part in these trials as per the PCA guidelines. The selected players would take part in the cricket championship to be organised by the PCA from June 22 onwards.

The Ludhiana zone will play its first match against Jalandhar zone at Hoshiarpur on June 23, he said.
