Habit-forming drugs worth Rs 27,863 seized

LUDHIANA: According to the directions of the Election Commission of India and Civil Surgeon Rajiv Bhalla, the Health Department conducted checking at three medical stores in Mullanpur today.

According to the directions of the Election Commission of India and Civil Surgeon Rajiv Bhalla, the Health Department conducted checking at three medical stores in Mullanpur today.

Habit-forming drugs worth Rs 27,863 were seized and notices were served on the owners of the medical stores — Punjab Medical Hall, Aggarwal Medical Store and Aashirwad Medical Hall. From Punjab Medical Hall, 15 types of habit-forming drugs were found. The total number of pills seized was 2,972 worth Rs 10,045.

The team found 25 types of habit-forming drugs from Aashirwad Medical Hall. In all, 2,858 pills worth Rs 17,818 were seized.

Narcotic Central Bureau officers Rameshwar Das and Amit Kumar were a part of the team. The team was headed by Dinesh Kumar Gupta, zonal licencing authority, along with Drug Inspectors Sukhbir, Navdeep Sandhu and Roopreet Kaur.
