Khanna, October 1

The Khanna police have arrested two local leaders of the Shiv Sena who concocted a story of hurling bomb on the Shiv Sena office at Khanna some time ago in order to get police security.

The police had registered a case in this regard and those arrested have been identified as Amit Sagar and Mithu Garg, residents of Khanna.

As per the information, Rajinder Singh and Sukhwinder Singh of Khanna, said some persons snatched a scooter of their friend, Preet of Goh village. When they were to report the matter to the police, Sagar lured them by saying that he had close links with the police and allegedly took Rs 23,000 from them to get back their scooter. When nothing happened, they reported the matter to the police.

Jagwinder Singh Cheema, DSP, Khanna, registered a case against the alleged accused, Sagar, under Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and he was arrested.

Later, the alleged accused admitted that he along with his associate, Garg, had hurled a patrol bomb on February 21 in front of the Shiv Sena office to get security.

After the incident, the slain Shiv Sena leader Druga Parsad Gupta was provided security by the police. Later, Gupta was shot dead by some unidentified persons on April 23 near his office.

Cheema confirmed the incident and said they had registered a case under Section 308,120-B against Sagar and Mithu and were probing the matter.
