Drug trafficking: Couple convicted

Additional Sessions Judge Amarpaul has convicted Amarjit Singh and his wife Sandeep Kaur of Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar, in a drug trafficking case.

Additional Sessions Judge Amarpaul has convicted Amarjit Singh and his wife Sandeep Kaur of Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar, in a drug trafficking case.

They were ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years each. A fine of Rs1 lakh each was also imposed on them.

A case was registered against them on December 18, 2014, at Sadar Jagraon police station under the NDPS Act. The police had recovered 9-kg opium from their car. They pleaded innocence during the trial, but failed to prove it.
